I came to quite the realization over this Thanksgiving holiday...no matter how old I get, or how many grey hairs poke through my beard, or how many winkles crinkle around my eyes, I will always and forever be my parent's child. You know what, I'm perfectly okay with that. In fact, I love that.
Since the day I was born they have loved me just the same, to my surprise sometimes, but like the best dog you've ever owned, my parents love me unconditionally.

Something my mom said when she was packing away food for me to take back home summed up this realization, she said, "It's nice to know that I can still feed you." That made me think. Through all the ups and downs of my life, through the countless amount of girlfriends that come and go and go and come, my parents will always be there, no matter what. If I'm sad I know where to go for comfort. If I'm hungry I know where to go for food. If I'm broken-hearted I know who's shoulder to cry on. If I have no other place to go, I know where I can go. Mom and Dad you are the best and completely not replaceable.
