Unemployed and Annoyed: We're Talking About Part Time

That's right, we're talking about part time. We're not talking about full time. We're talking about part time employment, and a whole bunch of it.
Oh, part time work. Go here at this time. Be there at that time. Come in on Saturday? Work longer on Thursday? Go up, down, and all around? Jump through this hoop and that hoop?
Where Is My Piece of the Pie?
Ahhhhh! Makes you want to scream doesn't it? A college degree, a teaching, heck two teaching credentials, yet the odds of getting full time employment in this anemic U.S. job market is about the same as winning the Mega Millions jackpot. It's probably not going to happen, but keep trying anyway, because that is what you have to do.
Don't blame yourself. Full time employment really is playing hide and go seek. Running and hiding, and hiding, and continuing to hide. If fingers should be pointed as to the direct cause of this job-nemic economy, multiple fingers should be pointed at politicians who seem to care more about paying for the past instead of investing in the future.
Benefits. What Benefits?
Part time work isn't so bad. Sure, all the wages from six part time jobs adds up to only half that of a full time job. Sure, health and dental benefits are merely necessities for not going bankrupt if a bone or two snap. Sure, that IRA with a few thousand bucks in it will be handy in thirty years, but a 401k would really be a retirement plan. That's right, we're talking about part time...part time employment.
I Will Survive
Love it or hate it. Getting not just one part time job, but many part time jobs (half dozen or so), that is what will survive this economic nonsense the United States is going through. A potpourri of jobs, doesn't quite smell as good, but it is a means. No end in sight, but at least bills are paid, food is the fridge, and gas still pumps into the car...(barely).
Chin Up, Head High
Keep working hard. There is nothing else that can be done. Keep those eyes on the lookout for better opportunities. Opportunity will come, but in the meantime, make sure that monthly calendar is handy and kept up to date...you need to be here, there, and everywhere.
