Unemployed and Annoyed: Jobs. What Jobs?

Like searching for that ever elusive four-leaf clover, finding a job in today's economy has become increasingly frustrating and downright impossible.
Are you one of the almost 15 million educated Americans that is unemployed? Are you annoyed that you were laid off? Are you annoyed that you spent thousands of dollars on a college degree that now has no job prospects? Are you annoyed that for the last year and a half you have been living off unemployment checks and babysitting money? If any of this rings true to you, then you just might be...unemployed and annoyed.
Where Have All the Jobs Gone?
Since 2000, the unemployment rate in the United States has nearly tripled. Whose fault that is doesn't matter. The fact is there are millions of educated Americans who simply cannot find work. Where have all the jobs gone? Overseas is a likely choice, company downsizing is also possible, but quite simply jobs in the United States have just vanished.
Manufacturing jobs that once employed skilled labor have now been replaced by a computer with a robotic arm. Telecommunication jobs that once employed millions have been outsourced overseas in search of cheaper labor. Teaching jobs that were once abundant are a now being eliminated because of lack of educational funding. Where can a hard working, college educated American find a job?
Search Here, There, and Everywhere
Every day millions of American job seekers are scouring job boards on Craigslist, SimplyHired, and Indeed, but continually find the same jobs posted again and again. These same job seekers are updating LinkedIn profiles, attending job fairs and online networking sessions, and are constantly revamping resumes and cover letters. To what avail is all this searching, updating, and networking? You ask yourself why me? Why can't I find a job? Where did all the jobs go? By now that barista job isn't starting to look so bad. Hell no to that coffee making nonsense! You deserve, no wait...you have earned the chance at a good job, a great job, a job that pays a fair wage for your services, one that has health and dental benefits, paid vacation and sick days, and a 401k. Unfortunately, millions of Americans are being denied the possibility at this type of gainful employment.
Be Annoyed
There is no simple answer to bringing back jobs to the unemployed America. You should be annoyed, you should be very annoyed...'cause heck you're already unemployed.
If you would like to express your own unemployment frustrations please leave a comment. It just might be used in future editions of Unemployed and Annoyed.
